Find paradise at Mandalay Beach

Mandalay Beach is part of the spectacular Rainbow Coast in Western Australia. Famous for its long white beaches and jaw-dropping views from the dune side boardwalk this beach has to be seen to be believed. If you visit during low tide you may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the shipwrecked "Mandalay" which beached here in 1911.

Unlike a lot of the other beaches that inspired our Summer Collection, Mandalay Beach is off the beaten path. The unsealed road down to the beach access starts the adventure.

Heading along the Bibbulmun Track you can walk along the boardwalk from the beach to the stunning Mandalay Beach lookout. This is a great spot to watch for whales during their migration along the coast from September to June.

If you are looking for a beach that you might just possibly have to yourself then this slice of coastal paradise is a place to visit.  Imagine stretches of pristine white sands, views over to Chatham Island in the far distance and camping grounds where you can set up to watch the famous Western Australian sunsets.

If you are there during low tide keep an eye on the rough waters.  The Norwegian ship “Mandalay” can still be seen, even after been wrecked along the coast over 100 years ago.

After soaking up the solitude and sheer natural beauty of Mandalay Beach you can keep busy by heading to other landmarks in the Walpole Region.

The Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk is in the Walpole Wilderness. Here you can wander 40 meters up in the canopy of the tingle forest amongst 400-year-old giant trees.

If you are looking for a great keepsake to take home, how about some organic olives or wine? At the Valley of Giants Wines and Olives you can enjoy wine tasting or relax with a coffee on the 120-acre farm. Another option is Old Kent River Winery. Here you can enjoy wine tasting and sample the region’s fresh seasonal produce. A special to the area is marron. A delicious freshwater crayfish that is native to the region.

Accommodation in the area is low key and ranges from camping to chalets.  Chances are you will wake up with kangaroos close by and kookaburras laughing.
