Our Top 10 Australian Beach Holiday Spots!

Given the sheer extent of Australia's coastline, it should come as no surprise to learn that it is home to a wide range of stunning beaches offering a huge range of holiday experiences to suit every budget and taste.

Here are our iLand Co’s list of the top 10 Australian Beaches to visit on your trip Down Under.

1. The iconic Bondi Beach is a great choice for those staying in Sydney, and is easily accessible by bus or train from the city centre. Bondi Beach proves great people watching and celeb spotting opportunities as well as providing an abundance of trendy cafes and boutiques to visit in between dips in the ocean. 2. Cable Beach in Western Australia, is located 22km from Broome and situated in the Kimberly Region. Cable beach is a truly spectacular site, made up of stunning white sand beaches, the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, and red ochre cliffs in the background. Explore Cable beach on horse or camel back and make sure you visit the southern end of the beach to see the 130 million year old Dinosaur Footprints!   Take this kaftan with you to Cable Beach!

3. Like its name suggests, Turquoise Bay is famous for its blue-green waters. it is famous for its closeness to Ningaloo Reef, which is home to all sorts of interesting marine life such as anemone fish, parrotfish, and even reef sharks. Definitely one for the keen snorkelers and fans of marine life!

4. Situated to the north of Brisbane, the Whitsunday Islands are home to pristine beaches that combine sparkling blue waters with stretches of white sand. As a result, they are a popular choice for holidaymakers, particularly because of their proximity to Queensland as well as the Great Barrier Reef. The Whitusnday’s offer a choice for everyone, from family friendly options such as Hamilton Island, to the upmarket and luxurious Hayman Island.

 

5. Lizard Island can be found to the east of the Great Barrier Reef. Being one of the most exclusive destinations in Australia, it should come as no surprise to learn it is home to a picture-perfect landscape, which happens to include no fewer than 23 white sand beaches. 6. Noosa Heads is a very popular holiday spot for Australians, and it’s easy to see why after visiting. Noosa’s stylish, low-rise architecture blends seamlessly into the beautiful natural surrounding all framed subtropical palm trees at every turn. The ever popular Hastings Street hosts a range of upmarket boutique hotels, restaurants and shopping options and Noosa Beach cannot be missed. 7. Byron Bay, Australia’s most Eastern point, is another popular spot for holidaying Australians and has become well more known amongst international travellers in the last 15 years or so. Byron Bay is the laid back, alternative surf haven mixed with upmarket bars and restaurants to suit the needs of increasing visiting holidaymakers. 8. For those who prefer more secluded or family friendly settings Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, Queensland, makes a great choice. Clean and pristine, the beach boasts excellent surfing conditions as well as beautiful surroundings that are great for picnickers. Burleigh Heads will give visitors a taste of life in a small Coastal Australian Town with a population of less than 10,000 people, it’s great surf, local markets and relaxed vibes. It was also voted the number 1 beach in Australia on Trip Advisor! 

 

9. For experienced surfers, Bells Beach in Victoria, home to the Rip Curl Pro Surf Competition since the 1970’s, is exactly where you want to be!   Not only is Bell’s Beach home to some of the best surf breaks in the entire country, it’s also set close to the famous Great Ocean Road, so you can spend a leisurely few days exploring the region.  

 

10. For Nature lovers Coles Bay, Wineglass Bay and Freycinet are a dream come true. With picturesque landscapes including pink granite mountains raising straight from the sea, holidaymakers can spend their time fishing, boating, bush walking, sea kayaking, rock climbing, or just doing absolutely nothing at all but taking in all the beauty. Coles Bay is around 2.5 hours drive from Hobart.
